The Night

What is a hip-hop throwback party?

A Bangin’ & Beats™ hip‑hop throwback party is a live, interactive music night where the DJ spins 30‑to‑60 second clips of classic hip‑hop and nobody calls a single number. Each player gets a custom 5×5 song card printed with 24 titles and the BANGIN’ center square. When the DJ drops a clip, you listen for the track, and if it’s on your card, you mark the square. Five in a row — across, down, or diagonal — claims the round.

The music runs through two eras of the culture: Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, and Wu‑Tang in the 90s Rap Round; Jay‑Z, 50 Cent, Kanye West, and Eminem in 2000s Hip‑Hop Bangers. If you grew up on it, it’s on the card.

Bangin’ & Beats runs public hip‑hop throwback nights out of our flagship room at Lake Chateau Banquets in Woodbridge, NJ, plus private parties across New Jersey and New York.

How it Works

Three rounds. Three winners. One long night.

1. You get a song card at the door. Each card holds 24 throwback titles drawn from the night’s 60‑song music pool. Everyone at your table gets a different card — no two are identical.
2. The DJ drops a 30-to-60 second clip. Jersey Club King DJ Tameil runs the decks. If you recognize the song and it’s on your card, you lock it in. If it’s not on your card, you rap every bar anyway.
3. Five in a row, shout “THAT’S BANGIN’!” Across, down, or diagonal — whoever calls it first with a card our Hype Emcee verifies claims the round and the prize loot. Then we reset for round two.

Between rounds: dance battles, lip‑sync showdowns, and the whole room on the hook. It’s a party with a game on top, not the other way around.

• Do I need to know every song to play the board?

  No. Every card pulls 24 titles from a 60-song pool, so everyone gets a different mix, and the song title appears on the screens behind the host. Just match it to your squares. Dance battles between rounds don't need a card at all.

• How is a hip-hop throwback party different from music trivia?

  Trivia rewards recall: you have to name the artist and title fast. Our throwback party rewards recognition: you just have to know whether the song matches a square you already have. Way lower pressure, way more fun.

• What eras do you play?

  Strictly 90s and 00s. The hip-hop side runs the 90s Rap Round and 2000s Hip-Hop Bangers, and public nights mix in the 90s R&B Vibe Set and 2000s Slow Jams. Each night runs on a 60-song music pool.

• Are there prizes?

  Premium prize loot every round, three interactive music rounds per night.

• Is it 30 & Up?

  Yes. Every public night is strictly 30 & Up, and the door checks a valid photo ID. For private parties, talk to us about your venue and your guest list.

• Do I need to buy tickets in advance?

  Yes. Tickets are $35 and go on sale on the tour dates page. Lock in your seat as soon as the next date drops.
